This is a very informative book. I have a square foot garden and I think it is a wonderful method to use. It works.

Not so square (foot) gardening -
I had my garden prepared when I bought this book, so I did not plant it using the square foot gardening method. However, even without that, it is an invaluable book. I have used the tables in the back (when to plant what) and put up the frame to support climbing plants and even plants that do not climb. This was especially great because there were both instructions on what to buy and pictures of how to build the frame.
I turned to the book to review watering. I recently read about planting a second lettuce crop so it will be ready to cut when the tomatoes are ready.
The author can be funny, but he never talks down to the reader. All the advice is simple and sensible. Whether you decide to grow a square foot garden or not, you will find this book a helpful addition to your gardening arsenal.

LOVE This Book!!! -
Too good to be true! We planted blueberries, basil, lettuces, radishes, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, red Russian kale and more stuff I can't remember --- using SFG techniques for almost all of it. We are enjoying an abundant harvest already, just a few months into the growing season, and look forward to planting crops for the fall using the same techniques! What a life-saver (and life-savor)! SFG is Great! -
Mel's book really got my attention when I read the 'no digging-no weeding'
concept. My husband and I are truly enjoying our garden. Although the book says to start small, we were so excited that we built 4 boxes from the very beginning. They are so easy to maintain and it is exciting to
watch everything grow. We can see the entire garden from our bedroom
window. It's a great view! I am recommending SFG to all my family and friends.
