Almost every page has a correction -
I have been reading knitting patterns for over 30 years. I love to knit but when I have to go on line to look up the corrections and find for this book there are 3 pages of corrections I feel the publisher should have sent out the corrections with the book. The sweater I am working on would have me down to only a few stitches for the back if I followed the directions. Thank heavens there are good photos so when you are lost you can follow the pictures.
I love the designs and i am sure the author is very talented but her book needs someone to proof it that knits.

Great Knitting Book -
I must say this has got to be one of the best knitting books I have bought. The patterns are pretty easy to follow and the fashions are new and exciting, perfect for every day wear. I can't wait to see Stephanie Japel's next book and of course I will be in line to buy it.
inspirational book -
I like this book a lot!
Having said that, I also have to say that I can understand why others do not.
If you are looking to follow row-by-row patterns, the errors in this book must be pretty annoying.
If you like to reproduce the pattern exactly, then the yarns and colors used here may not be to your taste, and you might also be pretty annoyed with this book.
If you do not knit in the round or top down, then you will be annoyed.
If you are looking for a perfect picture book, you might get annoyed by some pictured not-so-perfect knitting.
But none of these considerations affect a knitter like me. I don't plan to knit any of the sweaters exactly as pictured. In a lifetime of knitting, I've never followed a row-by-row pattern, and won't do so here. I have no problem figuring out how to use different colors and yarns.
Here is why I like this book: the pictures show the clothing pretty well; the diagrams are clear; there are loads of ideas for shaping and detail in the book; I like to knit top down, and the book has plenty of that. I'd like there to be more ideas, and more discussion of shaping, of course. But maybe that would be asking for a different book.
What this particular book offers me is both handy measurements in the diagrams for shaping, and various details that I can incorporate into my own designs in many different ways. I've got 2 sweaters planned to knit this spring using ideas from this book, and will use more as the year goes by. Never mind that none of my creations will use the same yarn, colors,or even look exactly like in the book. Enough that the book inspired me.
Beautiful Designs, Too Many Errors -
I had checked this book out from the library and it became a must have. I bought the book and was really excited because I thought the patterns were really hip. Unfortunately when I started knitting them I found that the book was full of errors. The author has a errata site posted online but I've come across many errors that still need to be worked out and added to that site... VERY frustrating. They might pertain only to certain sizes, but you might need to be an expert knitter to work through some of the problems yourself.

My Favorite Knitting Book! -
This is my favorite knitting book so far because I would actually wear all of the designs except for two (the knitted suit just isn't my style, and the thick and thin cardigan is a little too matronly for my taste) and there aren't as many errors in the book as I have seen in most other books. Look up the Fitted Knits Errata online before beginning any projects and you should be perfectly fine. I have made the Drop-Stitch Lace tank, Short-Sleeved Cardigan with Ribbing, and the Back to School U-Neck Vest, and I plan on making most of the other patterns in the book. I wanted to knit up a few items from the book before I wrote a review because most of the reviews I read on knitting books are from people who just like the pictures. I wanted to write a knowledgeable review from first-hand experience in knitting up the patterns.
I have been knitting for less than a year, and I have had absolutely no problems with following the author's directions on adjusting the patterns for your individual body type. The clothing styles are very stylish and fitted, which is just my style, but they are not so trendy that they will go out of style any time soon. I would also suggest buying GlamKnits by the same author.
