This book was recommended to me by one of my Professors as I began working on my Honors Thesis last semester and of all the research that I did this book is the #1 resource that I would recommend for those interested in learning more about hoarding. The authors share not only a full picture of the life of a person affected by hoarding but also the effects on the lives of their loved ones and offer a better understanding of the solid steps that need to be taken in the road to recovery. Overcoming Compulsive Hoarding: Why You Save and How You Can Stop is very informative and unlike a lot of literature that I came across which presents the hoarder as a sort of intriguing anomaly it humanizes "the hoarder" and gives readers an inside glimpse into the disorder and how to overcome it.

this is a preliminary review, as I have not put all therapeutic exercises into practice yet. I have already gained much insight and relief from this book, however, and wish I had discovered it years ago. it is concise, so I don't feel I am wasting time with lots of rhetoric.

it is especially important for me to differentiate the difference between OCD and OCPD (never heard of before!). I still have a long way to go and expect that now it will be in a better direction.
