Best non-fiction book I've read in years.

Just a terrific book -
This book is wonderfully written, with prose that goes to the heart. It's fascinating to follow the story of a dog who is free to come and go as he pleases, as he straddles the line of wildness and domestication in a Western, rural, and dog-friendly small town.

I could not bring myself to read the last chapter, though it had to be written and I'm sure was lovingly rendered.

Loved this book! -
I truly loved this book and the feelings it evoked of dogs past loved. It was a quick read and I dreaded the ending. However, it made me understand the decisions of some to wait and let their dogs naturally expire. After reading this wonderfully written book, I went to the beach with my labrador and felt a deeper connection that repaired some of the frayed edges in our relationship. I don't believe I will take another day with my dog for granted. They may just be animals to some but it is our relationship to them that enriches life's experiences.

Attention Animal Lovers -
This book is a heartwarming and inspiring tale told from an owner whose deep understanding for his dog is uncanny. The story is not like other tales of dogs, this one is told in the mindset of the dog as though he is writing through his human. It is obvious that this dog touched many people including his owner and he seems to send us humans a message that we can learn as much from our pets as they learn from us. It is important to stick with this book the scientific stuff in the begining can be interesting but boring but give it a chance.

Worth the read -
A wonderful story. Perhaps a bit too much detail in the beginning, but perserverance will prevail.....a beautiful story and remains in one's heart after. Worth working through the details.
